Dentistry
Our doctors have experience treating a wide variety of
dental conditions.  Young animals need to be
examined to ensure that all of their deciduous teeth
(baby teeth) have fallen out.  If the baby teeth are
retained in the presence of adult teeth it is important
to pull out the retained baby teeth.
As our pets age, they tend to need more oral care.
We recommend, dental cleaning with ultrasonic
scaling and polishing when there is a build up of
calculi (mineralized plaque, see below). If you are
unsure if your pet needs a dentistry come in during our
hours and the doctors will examine your pet's teeth
(and they
can often take your pet in for a dental that
day).
On the day that your pet is to have a dentistry please
withhold
breakfast.  Sometimes our doctors advise
preanesthesia dental screenings (blood tests) to
ensure that your pet is a good candidate for general
anesthesia.  So come on in and have your pets teeth
cleaned.
